This is a traditional recipe that my grandma does quite often at home. This is good for both adults and kids.

Ingredients to make Traditional paal kanji (milk porridge with garlic)

  • Milk 2 glasses
  • rice 1 tblr
  • Urad dhal 1/4 tblr
  • methi seeds 1 spoon
  • jeera 2 spoons
  • garlic 10 pods
  • ghee 2 spoons
  • water 6 glasses

How to make Traditional paal kanji (milk porridge with garlic)

  1. ADD 1 CUP RICE AND 1/4 CUP URAD DHAL TO A PRESSURE COOKER. TO THE SAME, ADD FEW PODS OF GARLIC AND 1 SPOON OF DRY ROASTED JEERA AND METHI SEEDS
  2. ADD 6 CUPS OF WATER AND PRESSURE COOK THEM TO ABOUT 6- 7 WHISTLES
  3. OPEN WHEN PRESSURE SUBSIDES AND MASH THEM WELL
  4. IN A KADAI POUR 2 SPOONS OF GHEE AND TEMPER WITH JEERA
  5. ADD THE TEMPERED JEERA TO THE MASHED RICE AND DHAL
  6. NOW ADD MILK ( 2 TUMBLERS) AND ADJUST THE CONSISTENCY
  7. TRADITIONAL PAAL KANJI IS READY.
  8. THIS RECIPE IS AN AGE OLD RECIPE WHICH SUBSIDES BODY HEAT. THIS IS GOOD FOR ESPECIALLY PREGNANT LADIES AND IS RECOMMENDED TO DRINK WEEKLY ONCE
