Grandma's Kara Keerai Adai is a combination of rice, thoor dhal and bengal gram added to dried chillies, pepper corns, asafoetida and salt to taste. All soaked and grounded except, asafoetida and salt. To the batter add sautéed onion and greens and mix well. Adai is made with sprinkled shredded coconut on top and oil spreaded on a tawa by flattening with fingers in an authentic style. Grandma's Kara Keerai Adai can be served with any chutneys, jaggery or can have it plain.
