Kaffir lime leaves are very aromatic and it leaves a hint of sour taste in the gravy. Rohu is a very common fish of all bengalies and this dish is with a little twist.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Rohu Fish - 5 piece
  2. Ginger paste 1 tablespoon
  3. Cumin powder - 1 tsp
  4. Few Kaffir lime leaves.
  5. Salt
  6. Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon.
  7. Slit green chilli 5 nos.
  8. A dash of lemon juice.
  9. Potatoes cubes( optional) - 1/4 th cup
  10. haldi [turmeric powder] - 1/2 tsp
  11. coriander powder 1 teaspoon each
  12. chaat masala pwoder - 1/4 th tsp

Instructions

  1. Marinate the fish with salt and haldi and keep for 5 minutes.
  2. Then take mustard oil and fry it lightly and keep it separately.
  3. Then in the same oil give white whole jeera for tempering .
  4. Then mix the powdered spices in water and pour in the wok.
  5. Then add the ginger paste and mix them well.
  6. Add the red chilli powder and chaat Masala.
  7. Then add sufficient water and then put the fried fishes
  8. Potato is optional but can be used.
  9. Put in low flame and cook for sometime until the gravy oozes some oil from it.
  10. Add little lemon juice and the kaffir lime and cook for another 1 min.
  11. Then serve it with slit green chillis.
