About Aloo wadiyaan Recipe

Punjabi special curry made with wadiyan and potatoes, to be served with some roti on the side.

Aloo wadiyaan

Ingredients to make Aloo wadiyaan

  • 150 gm moong vadi
  • 1 potatoe diced
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 1 green chillies chopped
  • 1 tomato chopped
  • 1 tsp kasuri methi
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • A pinch asafoetida
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1.5 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • salt to taste
  • coriander leaves

How to make Aloo wadiyaan

  1. Fry moong wadi and keep aside
  2. In a cooker heat some oil. Add hing and cumin seeds. Add kasuri methi
  3. Add onion and ginger garlic paste. Saute well.
  4. Add potatoes. Saute and mix.
  5. Add turmeric powder and red chilli powder. Add garam masala.. mix well.
  6. Add the fried mung wadi. Mix well.
  7. Add tomatoes green chilies and salt.
  8. Mix well. Add 2 to 3 cup water. Mix. Close the lid.
  9. Cook for 3 to 4 whistles.
  10. Garnish with coriander.
