Veg koftas with rich creamy gravy

Malai kofta

Ingredients to make Malai kofta

  • potato - 4 (medium size)
  • paneer - 150 gm
  • onion paste - 2 tbsp
  • tomato puree - 2 tbsp
  • green chillies - 3
  • garlic paste - 1/2 tbsp
  • ginger paste - 1/2 tbsp
  • cornflour - 1/4 cup
  • Crushed cardamom - 1/2 tsp
  • Crushed cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
  • red chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Kasuri methi - 1 tbsp
  • cashew paste - 1 tbsp
  • Fresh cream - 1 tbsp
  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • salt - As required
  • butter - 2 tbsp
  • oil - 3 tbsp
  • coriander leaves - 1 tsp(chopped)

How to make Malai kofta

  1. Take boiled and mashed potatoes in a bowl.
  2. Add Grated paneer.
  3. Add chopped green chillies, salt and corn flour.
  4. Mix all together and make round balls from it.
  5. Heat oil in pan and fry balls till golden brown in colour, like we fry gulabjamun.
  6. Soak extra oil from koftas with paper towel.
  7. Heat butter in another pan.
  8. Put crushed whole garam masalas.
  9. Add onion paste and ginger+garlic paste.
  10. Cook till raw smells gone.
  11. Add tomato puree(tomatoes boiled and grounded without skin).
  12. Add garam masala, chilli powder, turmeric powder, kasuri methi, sugar and salt.
  13. Cook on high flame for 2 minutes.
  14. Add Cashew paste.
  15. Add water and cook on medium heat until gravy starts thicken.
  16. Add 1/2 tbsp fresh cream and switch off the flame.
  17. Put this gravy in Serving bowl.
  18. Just before serving drop koftas in gravy.
  19. Pour 1/2 tbsp fresh cream over it and garnish with coriander leaves.
  20. Serve hot with pulav/plain rice or any type of parathas.
