About Guava Chutney Recipe

Want to prepare a chutney which would surprise everyone? I made this chutney for my visitors and asked them to guess the ingredients of the chutney. When they gave up, I told them that the chutney ingredients is Guava. Everybody got a pleasurable surprise. Why don’t you try it yourself?

Guava Chutney

Ingredients to make Guava Chutney

  • Red guava Fruit 1/2
  • Split Gram dal / Kadali Paruppu 1 tbsp
  • cumin Seeds 1 tsp
  • pepper 1 tsp
  • tomato 1
  • Red Chillies 2
  • coconut 1/4 cup
  • oil 2 tsp
  • salt as required

How to make Guava Chutney

  1. Heat oil in pan, add the split gram dal and red chillies. Saute for a minute.
  2. Then add the cumin seeds and peppercorns. Fry till it gives a nice aroma.
  3. Now add the chopped tomato and fry till the tomato becomes mushy.
  4. At this stage, add the chopped guava fruit and fry till it becomes mushy.
  5. Turn off the flame and add the coconut and salt. Allow it to cool down and grind with a little water.

My Tip:

Do not over fry the guava. This will change the taste of the dip.
