About Vengaya Malli Chutney Recipe

The flavour of coriander seeds and other spices with an onion base.

Vengaya Malli Chutney

Ingredients to make Vengaya Malli Chutney

  • 1/2 Cup small onions, chopped
  • Corriander powder 1 tablespoon
  • chilli powder 1 teaspoon
  • mustard seeds 1/2 teaspoon
  • Few curry leaves
  • salt 1 tablespoon or as per taste
  • Urad dhal 1 teaspoon
  • Red chilli broken 1 no
  • oil 1 tablespoon

How to make Vengaya Malli Chutney

  1. Roughly ground the 1/2 cup of onions with a mortar and pestle. Keep it aside.
  2. Mix 1/2 tsp of chilli powder and 1/2 tsp of coriander powder with a little water in a bowl. Keep it aside.
  3. Now heat oil in a pan and splutter the mustard seeds. Let them crackle then add the urad dhal.
  4. To this add red chilli and curry leaves. Saute well. Then add the masala mix, salt and grounded onions, saute until the raw smell goes away. 
  5. Tada! Your chutney is now ready. No need to grind or chop! 

My Tip:

Cook this in coconut oil for better taste.
