Ingredients to make Tilkut (A dry chutney /podi made with black sesame seeds)

  • Whole red chillies - 250 gms
  • Black til - 150 gms
  • Garlic - 2 pods peeled
  • Salt as per taste

How to make Tilkut (A dry chutney /podi made with black sesame seeds)

  1. First wash the til and sun dry them as well.
  2. Dry roast the red chillies in a broad pan till they become very hot and splutter. Remove and keep aside.
  3. In a dry mixer jar grind these chillies to a coarse powder. Add the black til and grind it again.
  4. Then add the garlic and grind to make a dry chutney and salt as per taste.
  5. Store it in an airtight container. (It does not spoil for a minimum of 6 months.)
My Tip: Do not add very hot stuff to the mixer jar. The lid might come off. Also make sure that there is not a drop of water or moisture anywhere.
