ABOUT Vegan Savoury Toast ( Besan Toast ) RECIPE

This version of toast is super easy . Egg free , lactose free recipe is perfect for kids or adults who doesn’t prefer eggs and milk . Chickpeas flour / besan gives an unique taste to this toast . Pushes the eater to ask for an extra toast . Camouflaging vegetables in this toast makes this dish even more nutritious. I recommend using Brown breads to make this toast a wholesome healthy snack /breakfast .

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Brown bread slices 4
  2. Chickpeas flour / besan flour 4 tablespoons
  3. CORN FLOUR 1/2 TEASPOON
  4. Water 1/4 cup .
  5. Onion medium sized 1 finely chopped
  6. Multi coloured capsicums finely chopped 1 cup
  7. Salt 1/2 teaspoon
  8. Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon
  9. Red Chilli Powder 1/2 teaspoon
  10. Garam masala 1/4 teaspoon
  11. Chole masala / paavbaji masala 1 teaspoon.
  12. Spring onions finely chopped two tablespoons
  13. Oil 4 teaspoons for toasting

Instructions

  1. In a bowl , take all the ingredients mentioned excluding bread and oil .
  2. Whisk the batter into a smooth lump free batter . The consistency should be like Baji consistency . Shouldn’t be too watery and too pasty .
  3. Take the bread slices and dip into the batter and see that either sides of the bread slices are coated well with the batter .
  4. Heat oil in a tava , toast these bread slices under low flame so that the batter around the bread slices cook evenly .
  5. Flip sides and toast till the colour turns golden .
  6. Serve hot with tomato ketchup / red bell pepper sauce .
