Coriander Seeds Chutney/ Dhaniya Chutney

Ingredients to make Coriander Seeds Chutney/ Dhaniya Chutney

  • Coriander seeds - 3 tsp
  • Urad dal- 1 tsp
  • Red chilli (long variety)- 6
  • Tamarind- 1 amla size
  • Coconut scraped- 2 to 3 tbsp
  • Gingelly oil- 5 tsp
  • Mustard- 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves - few
  • Salt- as needed

How to make Coriander Seeds Chutney/ Dhaniya Chutney

  1. Add one tsp of oil and saute the urad dal, coriander seeds, chilli and tamarind till the urad dal turns slight brown and a nice aroma arises. Add the coconut at last, saute for a few seconds and turn off the gas. (Note to do all this in a medium-low flame.)
  2. Allow it to cool down.
  3. Add everything in a mixer jar with salt and a little water. Grind and form a smooth paste.
  4. Heat the remaining oil in a kadai, temper it with mustard and curry leaves. Then saute the ground paste till the raw smell leaves.
  5. Serve with idli/dosa!
My Tip: Adjust the red chilli as per your taste if you want it a little less or more spicy.
