ABOUT Indian flattened rice dish( poha) RECIPE

Poha is a quick breakfast or snack food made of beaten rice or flattened rice from the Maharashtrian and Gujarati cuisines. Poha with onions, potatoes and seasoning like chillies, lemon and curry leaves make up a tasty and easy meal.poha is a quick recipe,which you can pack for your kid's lunch box.prepare it as mid- time snack or a breakfast dish.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 2 cups poha
  2. 1 onion chopped
  3. 1 tomato chopped
  4. 2 boiled potato
  5. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  6. 8-10 curry leaves
  7. 2 green chilli chopped
  8. 1 tbsp unsalted peanuts
  9. Salt to taste
  10. 1/4 tsp turmeric pwr
  11. 1/2 a lime ( juice)
  12. 1 tbsp coriender leaves chopped
  13. 1 tbsp peas
  14. 1/2 tsp sugar
  15. 1 tbsp grated coconut pwr

Instructions

  1. Wash poha few times and drain the water completely. Set aside to soften. If needed sprinkle some water and allow to soft and salt and sugar over it mix.
  2. Heat oil in the same pan.
  3. Crackle the mustard seeds first
  4. Then add onions and green chilli and peanuts saute them till they become translucent.
  5. Than add boiled potatoes
  6. Add chopped tomatoes
  7. Add few peas saute for 2 mins
  8. add the turmeric pwr and stir well to blend all ingredients
  9. Add the poha and stir. cover and steam the poha for 2-3 minutes on a low flame.
  10. Remove the lid and sprinkle some lemon juice, coriander leaves and grated coconut.
  11. When cooking check after 1 minutes and give a stir again.
  12. Switch off the heat and let the poha remain covered for 1-2 minutes.
  13. Give a gentle stir and serve onion poha hot with tea
