Ingredients to make Sugar Iced cookies

  • Maida (APF)- 1\2 cup
  • Wheat flour- 1\2 cup
  • Powdered sugar- 1\3 cup
  • Butter- 1\3 cup (melted)
  • Baking powder- 1\2 tsp
  • Salt- a pinch
  • Vanilla essence-1 tsp
  • For icing:
  • Confectionery sugar/icing sugar- 1\2 cup
  • Corn flour- 1 and 1\2 tsp
  • Vinegar- 1 tsp
  • Colour- few drops
  • Milk -1 or 2 tsp
  • Silver balls- to decorate (optional)

How to make Sugar Iced cookies

  1. Sieve both the flours, baking powder, salt twice to mix it evenly.
  2. In a large mixing bowl mix the butter and powdered sugar well. Add the flour mix to it little by little and mix well. Then add in vanilla essence and mix.
  3. If needed, add 1 tsp of milk and knead to form a soft dough. Roll the dough and cut it with the cutter, spread it on a biscuit tray.
  4. Bake it on a preheated oven for 15-18 mins at 180 degrees celsius. Then cool it completely for icing.
  5. To prepare the icing, mix the icing sugar, corn flour, vinegar and 1 tsp of milk in a bowl and whisk it well.
  6. Seperate it in a bowl and add desired colours to decorate.
My Tip: Before icing, the cookies must be cooked completely. I made cookies a day before icing it. Be creative in decorating. Don't add more milk in the icing, it will make it runny and will not set on the cookies.
