Podi idlys

Ingredients to make Podi idlys

  • For idly molaga podi:
  • Red chillies- 1 cup
  • urad dal- 1/2 cup
  • Channa dal- 1/2 cup
  • Black sesame seeds- 4 tbsps
  • salt- to taste
  • hing- one small piece
  • oil- a little
  • sugar- 1tsp

How to make Podi idlys

  1. Take a kadayi
  2. First fry hing in little oil
  3. Then fry red chillies and keep it aside
  4. Then fry urad dal with little oil
  5. Fry Channa dal and keep both aside
  6. Fry sesame seeds till it splutters and keep aside
  7. Fry salt
  8. Grind all these together finally add one tsp sugar and grind mix well
  9. For idlys
  10. Pour idly batter in idly cooker
  11. Steam it for 15 mins
  12. Apply this idly podi mixed with sesame oil on idlys and keep aside
  13. Serve either hot or warm

My Tip:

You have to fry salt because salt leaves moisture. This powder can be kept for one month. Sugar i add to equalize spices
