Ingredients to make Lauki Kofta In Appe Pan

  • Medium Size Bottle Gourd :1 Grated and Water Squeezed Out
  • Gram Flour (Besan) : 1/2 Cup
  • Green chillies : 1-2
  • Coriander Powder : 1/2 tsp
  • Chilly Powder : 1/2 tsp
  • Garam Masala : 1/2 tsp
  • Cilantro (Dhania) Leaves : 1 tbsp finely chopped
  • Spices like Cumin Powder, mango Powder can also be added for addtional taste

How to make Lauki Kofta In Appe Pan

  1. Peel the Bottle Gourd. Grate It.Squeeze and remove excess water. The water is full of Nutrients hence will be further be used in the Gravy.
  2. It is advisable to use the squeezed water immediately so I prepared the Onion-tomato gravy before hand.
  3. In a large mixing Bowl, mix lauki with all the spices. Add the gram flour spoon by spoon. Check consistency of the Batter. If more besan need you may add a tbsp.
  4. Add finely chopped cilantro ( Dhania) leaves.
  5. Heat Appe Pan. Add drop by drop Oil in every cavity. Pour a tbsp of batter in every Cavity.
  6. Sprinkle little Oil on top part of Batter. cover with Lid and cook for 2 minutes.
  7. After 2 minutes flip and cook opposite side. Cook well flipping 3-4 times till they are evenly brown and well cooked.
  8. The whole process to get evenly brown kofta takes 6-8 minutes. Flame should be low throughout. If you cook in medium flame the kofta will not get cooked from inside!
My Tip: Squeeze the grated bottle gourd and use the water full of Nutrients in the Gravy. It is advisable to use the squeezed water immediately. hence, prepare the Onion-tomato gravy Beforehand.
