Makhana kheer

Ingredients to make Makhana kheer

  • Milk - 1 ltr
  • Lotus seeds / makhana - 2 tbsp
  • sugar - 2 tbsp
  • cardamom powder - a pinch
  • raisins - 1 tbsp
  • Crushed almonds - 1 tbsp
  • ghee - 1 tsp

How to make Makhana kheer

  1. Heat ghee in a wok,add lotus seeds /makhana and stir fry on low flame.
  2. After they turn light brown and crispy switch off the gas
  3. Once cooled, grind lotus seeds coarsely.
  4. Keep aside.
  5. Boil milk in a heavy bottom vessel.
  6. Once boiled keep in a low flame,.add lotus seeds powder
  7. Stir in between thickening the milk.
  8. Cook well till it gets thick and lotus seeds mix in the milk.
  9. Add sugar and mix well
  10. Add cardamom powder,crushed almonds and raisins.
  11. Serve it.
