Podi oothappam

Ingredients to make Podi oothappam

  • Boiled rice 2 cups
  • Urud dal 1/2 cup
  • fenugreek seed 2 teaspoon
  • salt
  • For dal powder
  • Un skinned urud dal split 1 cup
  • red chilly 20number
  • sesame seeds 6 table spoon
  • curry leaves 1 cup
  • garlic 20 numbers ( small)
  • hing 1/2 teaspoon
  • Crystal salt 2 table spoon

How to make Podi oothappam

  1. Soak rice and fenugreek seed in a bowl
  2. In another bowl soak urud Dal
  3. Soak both for 4 hours
  4. Then grind Dal first fluffy and keep aside
  5. Now grind rice
  6. Add salt and Dal dough to rice dough and mix well
  7. Keep it for fermentation overnight or a minimum of 6 hours
  8. For Dal powder dry fry each ingredient separately and in a blender add all and powder it coarsely
  9. Make thick dosa and spread this Dal powder evenly over the dosa
  10. Sprinkle some oil or ghee
  11. Flip over dosa and cook both sides
  12. Serve hot with coconut chutney
