Ingredients to make Finger Millet Flour and Whole Wheat Flour Cake (Eggless)

  • Whole Wheat Flour 1 cup
  • Finger Millet/Ragi Flour* 1/2 cup
  • Yogurt 3/4 cup
  • Vegetable Oil 1/2 Cup
  • Jaggery (Grated/ Powdered) 1/2 cup
  • Milk 1/4 cup
  • Honey 1/2 cup
  • Baking Soda 1+ 1/4 tsp
  • Hersheys Chocolate Syrup 3tbsp
  • Vanilla essence 1 tsp
  • Chopped dry fruits 1tbsp (optional)

How to make Finger Millet Flour and Whole Wheat Flour Cake (Eggless)

  1. Dry roast finger millet flour for 2 to 3 minutes as this step will give a better texture to the cake.If you want to avoid this step you may. Preheat oven at 350 degree F.
  2. In a mixing bowl add all the dry ingredients and then add the wet ingredients one by one except milk and essence.
  3. The batter consistency should be thin. ( My personal experience any eggless cake batter should be thin in consistency , the result is moist cake)
  4. Pour the batter into a cake pan and let the same bake for 25 to 30 minutes
  5. Insert a toothpick to see if it comes out clean. If it does then the cake is ready to be served.
My Tip: Since the jaggery used here is too hard I let it melt in warm milk and then allowed it to cool down completely before using the same for the batter. If for some reason the batter becomes thick in the end, pls add little by little chilled water only as this will help make the cake moist and give a smooth texture.
