Ingredients to make Cauliflower Cafreal, a Vegetarian take on the Famous Delicacy from Goa

  • For the marinade:
  • 1 Onion
  • 1 bunch of coriander
  • 10 garlic cloves
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 2-3 green chillies
  • 10 palak leaves
  • 1 teaspoon tandoori masala
  • Salt to taste
  • The other ingredients:
  • 1 cauliflower, medium size
  • 2 potatoes, cut up for french fries (optional)
  • Oil to shallow fry

How to make Cauliflower Cafreal, a Vegetarian take on the Famous Delicacy from Goa

  1. Grind together the onion, coriander leaves, garlic, ginger, green chillies and palak.
  2. Cut the cauliflower into small florets.
  3. Marinate the cauliflower and the potatoes in the ground masala adding salt tandoori masala for about half an hour.
  4. Shallow fry just the potatoes and then the cauliflower florets in non-stick pan using oil as needed. When done tansfer to a plate.
  5. You will not have used all the masala in which the cauliflower was marinating, transfer the leftover masala to the pan in which you have fried the cauliflower, add a 1/4 cup of water and let the mixture boil and thicken.
  6. When serving transfer the cauliflower, potatoes to the serving plate add a little of the gravy and serve it with bread.

My Tip:

Mushrooms taste even better than the cauliflower.
