A famous snack of Bihar,Bengal,Jharkhand.My mother used to make it when young.

Vegetable Chop

Ingredients to make Vegetable Chop

  • Beetroot -2
  • carrot -3
  • Boiled potatoes -5-6
  • green chillies -3
  • peanuts -handful
  • coconut slices -2 tsp
  • coriander leaves -as needed
  • cumin seeds -1 tsp
  • salt - as needed
  • coriander powder -1 tsp
  • red chilli powder -1 tsp
  • Chat masala -1 tsp
  • oil -1 tbsp +for frying
  • Grated ginger -1 tsp

How to make Vegetable Chop

  1. Peel and cut beetroots and carrots to small length wise pieces.
  2. Roast coconut pieces and peanuts.keep aside.
  3. Then in same oil add cumin seeds,grated ginger and chopped green chillies.
  4. Then add chopped beetroots and carrots.
  5. Add little turmeric.Cook till veggies are cooked and soft.
  6. Add coriander powder,red chilli powder,salt,
  7. Close the lid and cook for five minutes more.
  8. Add boiled and mashed potatoes.
  9. Add salt and chaat Masala,coriander leaves and roasted coconut pieces and peanuts.
  10. Mix all together.Switch off gas.
  11. Once the mixture cools make Cutlet shapes.
  12. Dip in thin maida and salt batter.
  13. Then roll out on bread crumbs.
  14. Deep fry in oil.
  15. Cook till both sides are crispy and brown.
  16. Vegetable Chop is ready.
  17. You can serve it hot with tomato sauce or chutney of your choice.
