Road style Pattani Sundal

Ingredients to make Road style Pattani Sundal

  • To pressure cook:
  • 1 cup soaked peas
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • To Grind:
  • 1/2 roughly chopped onion
  • 1/2 roughly chopped tomato
  • 1 green chilly
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • Small piece of ginger
  • 1 tsp red chilly powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp fennel seeds powder
  • For the gravy:
  • 1 tsp oil
  • 1/4 tsp fennel seeds
  • Grinded paste
  • 1 + 1 1/2 cups water
  • Cooked peas
  • salt as required
  • 1/2 tsp pepper powder
  • 1/4 - 1/2 tsp chat masala
  • Chopped coriander leaves
  • For Garnishing:
  • 10 pani pooris
  • Grated carrots
  • coriander leaves
  • chopped onion

How to make Road style Pattani Sundal

  1. Pressure cook the soaked peas for 5 whistles by adding water(water till peas immersed)
  2. Grind the ingredients mentioned under ‘to Grind’ to a coarse paste.
  3. Heat oil in a pan,add fennel seeds allow it to splutter.
  4. Then add grinded paste,sauté for a minute.Add cup of water ,cover and cook for 5-8 mins.Add the cooked peas,1 1/2 cups water and cook until it becomes thick.Finally add chat masala,pepper powder,coriander leaves and switch off the stove.
  5. Serve hot with pani poori,grated carrots,coriander leaves and onions
