This chutney recipe belongs to Andhra cuisine . This is one commonly prepared quick chutney to accompany dosas . I always prefer opting simple recipes which gives delicious results . This chutney is one such a simple delicious recipe .

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Yoghurt 120 grams
  2. Tomatoes 2 medium sized roughly chopped
  3. Sesame oil 1 tablespoon
  4. Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon
  5. White sesame seeds 1 teaspoon
  6. Urad dal 1 teaspoon
  7. Bengal gram 1 teaspoon
  8. Garlic pods 6
  9. Dry red chillies 4
  10. salt as taste
  11. Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  12. Red Chilli powder 1 teaspoon ( optional )
  13. Water for grinding
  14. Curry leaves 10

Instructions

  1. Heat a pan , heat 1 .5 teaspoon sesame oil .
  2. Add the garlic pods , urad dal , Bengal gram ,sesame seeds , salt and fry till the colour changes slight brown . Till it releases aroma . Add 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder .
  3. Add the chopped tomatoes and sauté for 3 minutes . Let the tomatoes get cooked , turn soft and mushy .
  4. Switch off the flame . Cool the mixture completely .
  5. Grind this into a smooth paste using little water .
  6. The consistency shouldn’t be runny .
  7. In a bowl , take yogurt. Add the ground paste to the curd . Mix well .
  8. Heat a pan , do tadka with sesame oil , mustard seeds and curry leaves . Splutter the mustard seeds , fry the curry leaves . Switch off the flame .
  9. Finally , add this tadka to the prepared chutney . Mix and serve with hot dosas .
