Spicy Fried Idli

Ingredients to make Spicy Fried Idli

  • Idli – 8 nos
  • mustard seeds – 1/2tspn
  • onion – 1
  • curry leaf – 1sprig
  • Green /red chilly – 1
  • Red dry chilly – 1 (optional)
  • lemon juice – 1tspn
  • turmeric powder – 1/4th tspn
  • asafoetida – 2pinches
  • chilly powder – little
  • salt – according to taste
  • coriander leaves – 2tspn
  • Chat masala - little

How to make Spicy Fried Idli

  1. Make rough cubes of idli. Set aside. In a kadai heat oil. Add mustard seeds. When it crackels add finely sliced onion, curry leaves, dry chilly/green chilly or red chilly (choice is your's). Add a pinch or two of hing.
  2. Fry this till onion turns light golden brown. Season with salt and little chilly powder. Add haldi. Also add few drops of lemon juice. When the tadka is ready add diced idlis. Fry on low flame till its slightly roasted. Garnish with coriander leaves. Sprinkle some chat masala.
  3. Serve hot.
