Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Split Bengal gram / Chana dal - 1 and 1/4 cup
  2. Jaggery (gur) - 1 cup, grated
  3. Green cardamom powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  4. Refined flour (maida) - 1 and 1/2 cup
  5. A pinch of salt
  6. Pure ghee 1/2 cup

Instructions

  1. Wash and boil the chana dal. After draining the water, grind the dal coarsely.
  2. Heat a pan and add the dal, grated jaggery and cardamom powder.
  3. Stir it well and cook until it becomes dry in nature. Then allow it to cool.
  4. To prepare the dough, take the maida, salt and pure ghee (2 to 3 tablespoon) and knead a soft dough by adding water. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest it for one hour. You can also replace the all purpose flour with atta.
  5. Now make lemon size balls from the dough and stuff each dough with the chana dal-jaggery mixture.
  6. Dust it with flour and roll each ball till 4 to five inches diameter disk of medium thickness.
  7. Heat a tawa and roast both the sides of puran poli. You can add ghee on both sides or serve it hot with ghee.
