ABOUT Aloo Poha RECIPE

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And everyone loves Poha as it can be prepared quickly and very easily, also it is highly nutritious. There are many variations of the Poha prepared by adding the vegetables of your choice and Aloo Poha is one of them. Poha is packed with health benefits - easily digestible, rich in iron and carbohydrates and low-gluten levels to name a few.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Flattened Rice / Thick Poha – 2 cup
  2. Chopped Onions – ¼ cup
  3. Roasted Peanuts / Mungfali – ¼ cup
  4. Chopped Potatoes – ½ cup
  5. Water – ½ cup
  6. Chopped Green Chillies – 1 tsp
  7. Sugar – 1 tsp
  8. Salt – ½ tsp
  9. Oil – 2 tablespoon
  10. Mustard Seeds / Rai – ½ tsp
  11. Cumin Seeds / Jeera – ¼ tsp
  12. Asafetida / Hing – ¼ tsp
  13. Turmeric Powder / Haldi – ¼ tsp
  14. Lemon Juice – 1 tsp
  15. Coriander Leaves
  16. Water for soaking - as required

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl take 2 cups of thick Poha (Flattened Rice) and wash thoroughly with Water for two times and strain the water completely with the help of sieve (chalni).
  2. Then in the same mixing bowl take the soaked Poha add 1 tsp of Sugar and ½ tsp of Salt, mix well and keep aside.
  3. In a heating pan take, 2 tablespoon of Oil and once the Oil is heated add ½ tsp of Mustard Seeds, ¼ tsp of Cumin Seeds and ¼ cup of chopped Onions and sauté the Onions for 1 Min.
  4. Then add ¼ tsp of Hing followed by roasted Peanuts and stir until turns into golden color.
  5. • Add ½ cup of chopped Potatoes, ¼ tsp of Turmeric Powder, 1 tsp of chopped Green Chillies and ½ cup of Water, cover the lid, and simmer gas on low flame for 2 Min until Potatoes are cooked (check the Potato).
  6. Add soaked Poha mixture and mix well.
  7. Then add 1 tsp of Lemon juice and freshly chopped Coriander Leaves and give a nice mix.
  8. Then cover the lid and simmer on low flame for more 2 Min.
  9. Aloo Poha is now ready to serve hot.
