About purple yam chaat Recipe

purple yam chaat is also known as Ratalu ni chaat in Gujarati.

Ingredients to make purple yam chaat

  • 500 gram purple yam
  • 1tsp cooking soda
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • rock salt as per taste
  • 1 tbsp dry roasted cumin seeds powder
  • 2 green chillies chopped
  • 1 tsp pepper powder (kali mirch)
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • few coriander leaves

How to make purple yam chaat

  1. wear gloves and cut purple yam into pieces , advised to wear as it starts itching after we cut it .
  2. Add 3 cups of water and cooking soda and keep aside.
  3. Remove water & bring it to two whistles in cooker.
  4. cool it .
  5. Take kadai, heat oil & add yam pieces and keep cooking for 3/4 mins.
  6. Add rock salt , Green Chillies, roasted cumin powder & keep cooking on low flame for 2 mins .
  7. Add pepper powder & cook for 4/5 minutes till masala mixes well.
  8. switch off the gas. Add lemon juice & garnish with coriander leaves & happy fasting .

My Tip:

Must wear gloves while cutting yam
