About Mango Halwa Recipe

Delicious juicy mango halwa is my all time favourite . This is my Mom’s recipe . A easy dessert , which she loved to prepare for us to relish and enjoy . Purely nostalgic !

Mango Halwa

Ingredients to make Mango Halwa

  • Badami mangoes big ripe ones 2 puréed ( no water )
  • sugar 1 ladleful
  • almonds 10 chopped
  • cashews 7 chopped
  • pistachios 7 chopped
  • ghee 1/2 cup .

How to make Mango Halwa

  1. Heat a tablespoon ghee in a pan .Add 3 tablespoons chopped nuts( Almonds +cashews). Fry.Set aside.
  2. 2 ripe Badami mangoes puréed without adding water . Add the mango purée to the hot ghee in the pan.
  3. Keep stirring the mango purée continuously so that no lumps form.
  4. Keep stirring till the mixture firms . Then add a ladleful of sugar . The sugar melts.
  5. Stir , cook till the mixture turns non sticky.
  6. When the mixture loses its moisture , add ghee in between .
  7. Keep mixing till the mixture turns to one single mass consistency .
  8. The mass wouldn’t stick to the pan and would be in smooth pouring consistency .
  9. Now add the fried nuts . Mix .
  10. Grease a plate / tray with little ghee . Transfer the halwa to the greased tray.
  11. Let the halwa rest for 2 hours undisturbed . Refrigerate for 30 minutes . Cut into desired shapes .
  12. Garnish with pistachios . Serve and enjoy !

My Tip:

Let the halwa rest completely for 2 hours . Refrigerate for 30 to 40 minutes for the perfect setting .
