About Ring Murukku Recipe

A very easy snack that can be made with available ingredients at home.

Ring Murukku

Ingredients to make Ring Murukku

  • Raw rice flour 2 cups
  • Moongh dal / Paasi paruppu 1 1/2 table spoon
  • red chilli powder 1/4 tea spoon or as per taste
  • Oil 2 table spoons or butter 1 table spoon
  • Asafoetida powder 1/2 tea spoon
  • Sesame seeds 2 tea spoons
  • salt to taste
  • oil for frying

How to make Ring Murukku

  1. In a broad pan, boil 5 cups of water adding moongh dal.
  2. After 5 minutes of boiling, add salt, oil / butter, red chilli powder and asafoetida to the pan.
  3. Keep the flame low and add in the rice flour gently and keep stirring.
  4. When the stuff becomes thick like a roti dough, switch off the stove. Add sesame seeds and knead well In a damp cloth transfer the stuff.
  5. Wrap the dough in a damp cloth and make a bundle. Now knead well rolling the bundle. The dough will become soft and lump free now.
  6. Take small gooseberry size of dough on a your greased palm and roll them to small thin strings.
  7. Bring the edges together to form rings.Do this for all the dough
  8. Heat oil in a pan and fry them to golden colour and crispy.

My Tip:

Since the murukku is made with boiled dough it tastes very crispy and absorbs less oil only.
