About Samak Chawal Dosa Recipe

Quick and easy samak Chawal Dosa is a gluten-free dosa/crepe prepared with tapioca pearls. This super crispy and healthy dosa requires no fermentation and comes together in a jiffy!

Samak Chawal Dosa

Ingredients to make Samak Chawal Dosa

  • 1/2 cup sabudana
  • 1 cup Sama Rice ( Barnyard millet)
  • Salt and pepper to taste (Vrat salt - sendha namak)
  • 2 tablespoon oil (to cook dosas)
  • FOR potato FILLING
  • 4 medium Boiled and cubed Potatoes
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon haldi (omit if you do not eat in vrat)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • Salt to taste (Vrat salt - sendha namak)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

How to make Samak Chawal Dosa

  1. Take sabudana and samak rice to the grinder and grind into powder.
  2. Soak this flour powder in enough water (warm) for 1 hour.
  3. Stir in salt, and pepper powder.
  4. There should be no lumps in the batter and it should be of a thin consistency.
  5. POTATO FILLING PREPARATION
  6. Boil, peel and chop potatoes.
  7. Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and when they start to crackle add all the dry spices and add Vrat salt - Sendha namak.
  8. Stir in potatoes and mix.
  9. Add fresh coriander and lemon juice.
  10. ASSEMBLING DOSA
  11. Heat and grease a griddle.
  12. Pour 1/2 cup batter on the hot griddle.
  13. Drop 1-2 drops of oil around the cooking dosa. Cook on medium flame.
  14. Once get golden, transfer to the serving plate Serve immediately and enjoy it hot with aloo and vrat ki chutney.
