Ingredients to make Besan ladoo

  • 2 cup besan/ bengal gram flour
  • 1/2 cup ghee/ clarified butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp cardamom powder
  • Chopped almonds to garnish

How to make Besan ladoo

  1. The first step is to make the tagar/sugar bura. In a pot, take 1 cup of powdered sugar and 1/4 cup water, let it boil for 5 minutes. Stir continuously. After 7 minutes you will see that the syrup starts to change colour and looks white at this stage.
  2. Now add 1 tsp ghee into it. Take 1 drop of sugar syrup out of the pan and pour it on a surface, if it changes in solid state within seconds, turn off the gas or else cook it longer. Turn off the gas and stir the syrup continuously until it becomes white and thick. The sugar bura is ready.
  3. The next step is to prepare the ladoos, take a pan and add besan, cook until a nice aroma develops or the raw smell of the besan disappears.
  4. Now add ghee into it and stir continuously. Cook until the ghee starts leaving the mixture and the besan roasts nicely. Then add the cardamom powder and mix it well. Turn off the gas and let the mixture cool completely.
  5. When the mixture is cooled completely, add the sugar tagar or bura into it. Mix it well. Grease your palms with ghee and make the ladoos with this mixture.
  6. Garnish the ladoos with chopped almonds and serve.

My Tip:

Instead of sugar bura you can use powdered sugar as well.

we can use normal besan or we need to use little bit of coarse besan.
