About Godhumai Bonda Recipe

Godhumai bonda or wheat flour bonda is crispy outside, gooey inside bonda which can be made quickly with less ingredients. I prefer doing this on a rainy day. A hot ginger tea and this bonda is an excellent combination.

Godhumai Bonda

Ingredients to make Godhumai Bonda

  • Whole wheat flour 2 cups
  • onions 3 Finely Chopped
  • green chillies 5 finely chopped
  • curry leaves 1 fistful
  • coriander leaves 1 fistful
  • salt accordingly
  • jeera 1 teaspoon
  • A pinch of baking soda
  • oil for frying

How to make Godhumai Bonda

  1. In a wide bowl add whole wheat flour, finely chopped onions, green chillies, curry leaves, coriander leaves ,salt and jeera and mix well with hand.
  2. Add adequate water to make it into bonda consistency.
  3. Heat oil in a kadai
  4. Add a pinch of baking soda to the batter and mix well.
  5. Now pour 2 tablespoons of hot oil into the batter and mix well. Please be careful,not to get burnt in the fingers.
  6. Make amla sized balls and drop directly into the oil.
  7. Fry till golden brown or till the oozing sound stops in medium flame.
  8. Drain into a kitchen towel. Serve hot with sambar or chutney along with a ginger tea.

My Tip:

Baking soda is added for fluffiness and hot oil for crunchiness.
