ABOUT Designer barnyard millet upma RECIPE

Barnyard Millet or commonly known as samak ke chawal is a healthy grain rich in proteins carbohydrates having low glycemix index...a boon to diabetics specially during fasting when such people are prone to increase in high sugar level . Owing to rich in fiber it doesnot give us hunger pangs. Now here i have made an upma of this grain and then given a beautiful heart shape in the muffins mould .i sincerely hope even the kids start having this healthy designer grained upma.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Barnyard Millet (Samak rice) 250 g
  2. Desi ghee 3 tablespoon
  3. Peanut ..20 g
  4. Lotus seeds ( makanas) roasted 20 g
  5. Cumin 1 teaspoon
  6. Degi mirch powder 1 teaspoon
  7. Sendha salt .as per taste
  8. Black pepper powder 1 teaspoon
  9. Curry leaves...20g

Instructions

  1. Keep the wok on a medium flame and add jeera
  2. Allow it to splutter and add Pre roasted peanuts ..also add barnyard millet rice and start stirring it in order to roast it mildly .
  3. Once it is roasted add degi mirch powder , black pepper powder and salt . Now add water four times the quantity of the grain
  4. Let the grain absorbs the water and one can see the grains getting tender in the hot bubbling water.
  5. Once all the water gets absorbed ..we would see the barnyard millet grained upma getting set now in a wok...
  6. Now we would put this in the heart shaped silicon moulds to allow them to get the Designer heart shapes...
  7. One can see here in the picture..
  8. Once set ..demould them and fill the heart cavities with peanuts and roasted makhanas..
  9. Our cute designer heart shaped upma muffins (without baking ) are ready ..Garnish with curry leaves ..
  10. Enjoy this savoury snack healthy fasting feast.
