About Kappa Puzhukku Recipe

This special snack from Kerala is very healthy and tasty too. It is made in all hoseholds during tapioca or kappa season

Kappa Puzhukku

Ingredients to make Kappa Puzhukku

  • Kappa or tapioca 1/2 kg
  • coconut 4-5 slices
  • shallots 5
  • green chillies 4-5
  • garlic 2 pods
  • jeera 1 teaspoon
  • mustard seeds 1 teaspoon
  • curry leaves 1 fistful
  • coconut oil 1 tablespoon
  • turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  • salt accordingly

How to make Kappa Puzhukku

  1. Peel the outer skin of tapioca and chop into 1 inch pieces.
  2. Pressure cook with salt and turmeric powder for 5 whistles
  3. In a blender grind coconut, shallots,garlic, green chillies and jeera into a coarse paste
  4. Add the paste to the cooked tapioca and stir well till all the water is absorbed
  5. Season with mustard seeds and curry leaves in coconut oil and serve hot with fish curry
