Sambusak

Ingredients to make Sambusak

  • Soya granuals 100 gms, boiled and minced
  • oil 2 tbsp
  • Chopped onion 1
  • Chopped tomato 1
  • Green cardamom 2
  • cloves 2
  • Cinnemon stick 1
  • Black pepper corns 5-6
  • bay leaves 2
  • mace 1
  • ginger-Garlic paste 1 tsp
  • turmeric 1/2 tsp
  • chilli powder 1 tsp
  • coriander powder 1 tsp
  • salt to taste
  • coriander leaves 2 tbsp
  • Chopped green chilli 1
  • Chopped pista, cashew, almonds 2 tbsp
  • For the dough:
  • Refined flour 200 gm
  • ghee 50 gm
  • salt to taste
  • Cold water as required

How to make Sambusak

  1. Boil water and add the fortune soya chunks in it. Let it soak for 5 mins, then strain and grind it coarsely and keep it aside.
  2. Take a pan, add oil and cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, black peppercorns, bay leaves and mace in it.
  3. Add chopped ginger, garlic and minced soya chunks. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, salt and tomato.
  4. Then add fresh chopped coriander, garam masala, chopped chillies and dry fruits. Stir it well. Turn off the gas and let the mixture cool down.
  5. Prepare the dough by combining flour, salt, ghee and cold water. Let it sit for half an hour. Take the dough and roll it flat like a chapati. Cut into half.
  6. Make a paste of the flour and water (nizam). Apply nizam on the edges of the sheet.
  7. Fold the sheet in a triangle shape, add filling into the cavity and seal the edges.
  8. Brush some oil on top of it and fry these sambusak in an airfryer till they turn golden brown in colour.
  9. Serve with ketchup or green chutney.
