How to make Bubble tea with the bubbles(Tapioca balls) recipe

  1. Preparation of Boba(tapioca balls):
  2. Take the flour in a mixing bowl and add the water little by little. First mix it well with a spoon or fork, because water will be so hot.
  3. Then knead the flour with hands. If the dough is sticky , then coat the hands with the flour. Once the dough is ready (non sticky and pliable like our chapatti dough) divide it into two or three parts.
  4. Roll it into very thin log and then make small equal sized balls out of it.
  5. In a pan add the brown sugar and water and stir till the sugar is mixed well. Once it starts to roll boil, add the prepared balls and allow it to cook.
  6. It will take around 12 to 15 minutes to cook completely. You can see the colour of the balls will be changed and it will look like transparent.
  7. At first it may be sticky but later on it will become normal. Remove from heat and let it cool down. Use the cooled boba whenever required ie., while making bubble tea or other bubble shakes or juices.
  8. Preparation of Bubble Tea:
  9. Boil the milk and let it cool down.
  10. In a pan add the 1 cup of water and allow it to boil. Once it starts boiling add the tea powder and let it continue boiling.
  11. After 3 to 5 minutes or after the tea fully cooked and the color and flavor of the tea is fully infused in water remove from heat and filter. Keep the tea extract/decoction aside and allow it to cool.
  12. Then again boil the remaining ¼ cup water and add the brown sugar and mix well. Once the brown sugar got dissolved and the mixture starts boiling remove the sugar syrup from heat and let it cool down.
  13. In a serving glass add 2 tablespoon of bobas , sugar sauce, required tea extract, and the milk. Mix well. Add the ice cubes and serve the chill bubble tea.

My Tip:

In shops the bubbles will look black colour, but in homemade, the bobas will be light brown only. You can use white sugar also instead of brown sugar. But to give light brown colour Bobas will stay good for 2 days in sugar syrup itself, but softer if you use immediately. But it starts to become little harder and more chewy after few hours. To make it creamier you can blend everything with ice cubes except bobas and pour in the serving glass. Finally add the bobas and serve.
