Hubby was demanding from sooo long time to make his favorite Pita Bread with Hummus. So finally I made it on this Sunday

Ingredients to make Pita Bread & Hummus | How to make Pita Bread & Hummus

  • 1 cup maida/All Purpose flr
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1tbsp yeast
  • 1 cup Luke warm water
  • 1.5tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 1 Cup soaked & boiled white chana/Kabuli Chana
  • 1tbsp lemon
  • ½ cup roasted sesame seeds powder( if you have tahini paste you can use that also), ½ tsp rcp,1/2 tsp black pepper powder
  • 3-4 garlic
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • salt as per your taste
  • Fresh Coriander & olive oil for Garnishing

How to make Pita Bread & Hummus | How to make Pita Bread & Hummus

  1. Mix sugar & yeast(I have used Receipia Yeast) in 1cup water & keep it aside for frothing(20 min.’s is enough).after 20 min’s you will see frothy yeast & take a big bowl,add maida & aata,salt & knead a soft dough by using water( if req.)
  2. keep it aside for almost 2 hrs(best way is knead dough in night & make it in morning,so it will get sufficient time for rise.)
  3. After 2 hrs, take dough & knead it again by using some maida if it sticks in ur hand, now make divide dough into equals portion & make 5-6 balls & cover it with a cloth & keep it aside for 30 min’s.
  4. Now preheat oven at 200degree C for 10 min.’s , now take 1 ball & roll it like thick chapatti, flatten all the balls like this & take a baking tray put 2-3 pita’s in that & bake it for 8-10 min’s, it’s a pleasure see ur pitas puffs up in mi
  5. For Hummus- 1 Cup soaked & boiled white chana, 1tbsp lemon, ½ cup roasted sesame seeds powder( if you have tahini you can use that also), ½ tsp rcp,1/2 tsp black pepper powder, 3-4 garlic,1/2 cup olive oil, salt as per your taste.
  6. Mix all the above ingredients & grind them in a chutney pot to make a smooth paste, hummus is ready garnish with some olive oil & dhaniya leaves.

My Tip:

For serving suggestion- Pita breads are also called Pita Pockets, cut them into half , grease with some butter from inside also & stuff with stir fried salad or any of the other stuffing like tikkies, veggies u want. Enjoy Pita Bread/Pockets with Hummus Happy Cooking to all !!!
