About Kewa Datshi Recipe

Kewa Datshi is one of the famous dish in Bhutanese cuisine. “Kewa” means “potato” and “Datshi” means “cheese”. I learnt this dish from a localite when I visited Bhutan. It is very easy to make and tasty as well.

Kewa Datshi

Ingredients to make Kewa Datshi

  • potatoes 2 medium size
  • tomato 1/2
  • onion 1 small
  • Chillies 4-5
  • Processed cheese cubes 4
  • salt to taste

How to make Kewa Datshi

  1. Make thin slices of potatoes.
  2. - Make cuts in the chillies.
  3. - Boil potatoes, tomato, sliced onion and chillies in sufficient amount of water
  4. - Once the potatoes are cooked add processed cheese. Boil till it melts.
  5. Do a taste test. Add salt if required. ( You may not need to add salt as cheese already has some amount of salt)
  6. - Tada! Your Kewa Datshi is ready!

My Tip:

Use chillies according to your spice level.
