About Thalipeeth Recipe

Thalipeeth is a very famous dish from Maharashtra. Thalipeeth is a complete meal in itself. It is a multigrain masala roti. So, it has a high nutritional value. It can be accompanied by curd or any chutney like mint chutney. Thalipeeth flour is a mix of 20-21 grains. So, it is a very healthy recipe.

Ingredients to make Thalipeeth

  • 1 cup thalipeeth atta / flour
  • 1 tsp haldi powder / turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp Roasted cumin Powder
  • salt as per taste
  • 1/4 cup methi leaves finely chopped
  • 1 green chilli chopped
  • sesame seeds 1 tsp
  • oil / clarified butter 2 tbsp
  • water

How to make Thalipeeth

  1. Take thalipeeth flour add red chilli powder, roasted cumin powder, haldi powder, salt, green chilli and methi leaves. Mix all ingredients well. Knead a dough with water. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Now take a rolling board. Take small ball size portion from the dough. Make a ball. Make 2 or 2 and half inch diameter roti with the help of a rolling pin. Make small hole in the center. Sprinkle sesame seeds on roti.
  3. Now take a pan/tawa, cook this thalipeeth on a pan from both sides by using oil or clarified butter.
  4. Serve hot with curd or mint chutney.

My Tip:

I have used methi leaves for making thalipeeth more healthy . U can use spinach leaves also or can make thalipeeth without using any leaves .
