Dutch Apple Pie

Ingredients to make Dutch Apple Pie

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup quick cooking oats
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup melted butter
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 cup cold water .
  • 3 1/2 cups diced peeled apples
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • pinch of nut meg powder or all spice
  • 1 1/2 tbsp lime juice

How to make Dutch Apple Pie

  1. first combine flour, brown sugar,oats and butter in a large mixing bowl and keep aside .
  2. set aside 1 cup of this for the topping .
  3. take a suitable pie plate, grease it well and press this mixture on the base, keep in fridge to chill it .
  4. combine cornstarch sugar and water in a pan and let it boil . the mixture should be of smooth consistency, so let the mixture thicken a bit .
  5. Add the spice add the spice,nutmeg, chopped apples, vanilla extract and stir well
  6. pour this thickened apple mixture into the prepared chilled pie crust add the crumb topping which you prepared earlier over the pie tin , all over evenly . bake at 220 degrees for 40 minutes or till done , till the pie crust gets a golden
  7. cool on a wire rack till serving time , serve chilled with some ice cream or as it is .
