Besan Dhokla (Khatta Meetha)

Ingredients to make Besan Dhokla (Khatta Meetha)

  • besan 3 bowl
  • sooji 3 tbsp
  • curd 1 cup
  • turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • ginger-green chilli paste 1/2 tsp
  • mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
  • salt as per taste
  • sugar to taste
  • Citric acid crystals as per your taste
  • Refined oil 3 tbsp
  • Green coriander, chopped to garnish
  • 3 green chillies cut in to split
  • Grated coconut to garnish
  • 1 tsp eno

How to make Besan Dhokla (Khatta Meetha)

  1. To prepare the dhokla batter, in a bowl mix the besan and sooji with 1 cup of curd and water. Mix it well without any lumps, now add the turmeric powder, ginger- green chilli paste, now add oil, salt, sugar and mix it. Leave it for 2 hrs at room temperature.
  2. To prepare the tadka, take a pan, heat some oil and add the mustard seeds, green chillies, green coriander and add water. Boil it for a minute and leave it till it cools.
  3. After 2 hrs, your batter is ready to prepare the dhokla. In a bowl, take a small quantity of batter and put some eno in it. Now in a pressure cooker or steamer, set the batter in the mould and steam it for 10-15 mins. (The dhokla will ready, repeat the same process further.)
  4. When the dhokla cools down, soak it in the tadka water and garnish it with coconut. Keep it in the refrigerator.
  5. Your khatta meetha dhokla is ready to eat. Serve it chilled.
