About Malida(Afgan sweet) Recipe

It's a whole wheat Afghan sweet made with leftover chapatis, sweetened with jaggery and flavoured with cardamon and dry nuts. Have it as a snack at tea time or pack it in your kids lunch box for a quick boost of energy.

Malida(Afgan sweet)

Ingredients to make Malida(Afgan sweet)

  • Leftover chapatis - 4
  • Chopped dry nuts (almonds, cashew) - 2 to 3 tbsps
  • Dry Black current / cranberries - 1 to 2 tsp (optional)
  • jaggery - 3 tbsp grated
  • ghee - 1 tbsp
  • Cardamon powder - 1/2 tsp

How to make Malida(Afgan sweet)

  1. Tear the leftover chapatis and pulse to coarse powder in a grinder.
  2. Add the cardamon powder and grated jaggery and pulse again for a nice mix
  3. Roast the chopped nuts and berries in ghee
  4. Invert the coarse wheat mixture in a bowl. Add the fried nuts alongwith the ghee
  5. Now mix and make small lemon sized balls of the mixture
  6. Healthy and nutritious malida is ready to snack on
