Chirote/Khaje

Ingredients to make Chirote/Khaje

  • maida 1 cup
  • ghee ¼ tsp
  • salt a pinch
  • rose Pink colour- a few drops
  • Satha Ingredients:
  • cornflour ¼ cup
  • ghee 1 tsp
  • flour for rolling
  • Melted ghee 1 tsp

How to make Chirote/Khaje

  1. Divide the flour into 3 parts. Add the pink colour to the 1/3 flour and knead it.
  2. Knead the other 2/3 dough also. Roll all the 3 parts to a regular chapati size.
  3. For the Satha, beat the cornflour and ghee till its light (It should float when placed in a bowl of water).
  4. Place the white chapatti on the rolling board with a little flour on it and spread the melted ghee and then the satha on it.
  5. Now place the coloured chapatti on it and repeat the process (spread melted ghee and satha).
  6. Roll them and cut into 1/2 inch pieces. With the layered side upward, press it gently with your fingers and then lightly roll to puri size.
  7. Deep fry them on a low flame.
  8. Sprinkle sugar powder or sugar syrup as desired.
