It is a baked french dessert made of fruit — traditionally of black cherries ( which can be substituted with plum, fig , apricot or berries) arranged on a buttered dish , covered with a pancake like batter.

Ingredients to make Cherry Clafoutis -- A french dessert

  • 2 cups of full fat milk
  • 2 cups of powdered sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup of flour or as much required
  • 3 cups of red cherries , pitted
  • Some powdered sugar for garnishing

How to make Cherry Clafoutis -- A french dessert

  1. Pre heat the oven to 180 degree centigrade.
  2. Combine the milk , egg, sugar, flour , salt , vanilla together with a whisk , and make into a pancake batter consistency —
  3. Lightly butter a baking dish and spread some powdered sugar on top of it .
  4. Arrange the pitted cherries and then pour in the prepared mixture .
  5. Bake this for 40 to 45 minutes or until a knife inserted onto the middle comes out clean.
  6. Sprinkle powdered sugar and serve warm.
