Kaala Channa

Ingredients to make Kaala Channa

  • Kaala chana - 2 cups
  • 2 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp chaat masala
  • 1 tsp amchur
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • oil

How to make Kaala Channa

  1. Soak the chana in water overnight.
  2. Strain the water (you may keep the stock for later use)
  3. Add water to the chana and cook in a pressure cooker with 1 tsp salt for 25minutes till totally cooked.
  4. In a pan, heat oil, add cumin, let it splutter.
  5. Strain the chana and add it to the pan and cook for 2 minutes.
  6. Add all the dry masalas and cook for 2 minutes.
  7. If the mixture gets too dry you can add some of the stock or water and cook for 2 minutes.
  8. Your dish is ready. Serve hot with roti or poori.

My Tip:

Serve with lemon and onion relish.
