Maa Chole ki Dal

Ingredients to make Maa Chole ki Dal

  • Chana dal 1/2 cup
  • Urad chilka dal 1/4 cup
  • Ghee 3 tbsp
  • Asafoetida 1 pinch
  • jeera 1/2 tsp
  • Chopped garlic 2 cloves
  • Chopped ginger 1 tsp
  • Chopped onion 1
  • Chopped tomato 3
  • Chopped green chilly 2
  • Chopped coriander 2 tbsp

How to make Maa Chole ki Dal

  1. Wash both dals and pressure cook for 15 minutes on low flame with 3-4 cups of water.
  2. Tempering: Heat a pan, add ghee, hing, jeera, ginger and garlic, let it brown. Add onion, cook for 2-3 minutes, add tomato, green chilly and dry spices.
  3. Cover the lid and cook till the oil separates. Add in cooked dal, mix well.
  4. Add coriander and pour 1 tbsp ghee while serving.
  5. Serve with roti, chilly pickle and mint chutney.
