About Saag paneer ( cholai/ amaranath leaves) Recipe

A very famous and delicious punjabi dish, generally uses palak. I have replaced palak with amarnath leaves in my recipe. I feel this version is much tastier than the palak version.

Saag paneer ( cholai/ amaranath leaves)

Ingredients to make Saag paneer ( cholai/ amaranath leaves)

  • Amarnath leaves(cholai) 1 bunch 600 gms approx
  • paneer 250 gms
  • tomatoes 2
  • onion chopped 1 cup
  • ginger garlic paste 2tsp
  • Green chilli 2 chopped
  • bay leaves 1
  • Shahi jeera 1 tsp
  • Garam masala 1 1/2 tsp
  • oil
  • salt to taste

How to make Saag paneer ( cholai/ amaranath leaves)

  1. Wash amarnath (cholai ka Saag) nicely
  2. In the pressure cooker put 1tsp oil put ginger garlic paste in it.
  3. Add Saag,chopped tomatoes and green chilli.
  4. Give it a whistle. And keep aside
  5. Open the cooker and blend the saag with the blender
  6. Take a pan ,add 1tbsp of ghee in it put shahi jeera and bay leaf.
  7. Then put chopped onion. Fry it until it turns golden.
  8. Add garam Masala, turmeric powder,salt and fry it for a while so that Masala get coated on onion nicely. Switch off the gas .
  9. Pour the fried onion in the saag,
  10. Add paneer in it.
  11. Cook it on sim for at least 15 min.
  12. Garnish with ginger julliens. Serve with roti, Paratha or Rice.
