Fish Pulimunchi - another mouth-watering addition to Manglorean kitchen from Bunts cuisine... goes well with plain steamed rice and veggies on the side. I have used Black Pomfret Fish in the curry..

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 500 gms Fish (I used black pomfret) cleaned and cut into curry pieces
  2. 1 tblsp coconut oil
  3. 1 sprig curry leaves
  4. For Masala grind together: 1 medium onion,
  5. 12 bedgi red chillies
  6. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  7. 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  8. 2 tblsp tamarind pulp
  9. 3-4 tirphal or pepper
  10. 4 garlic cloves
  11. 1/2 inch ginger
  12. 1/4 tsp methi seeds
  13. 1/2 tsp turmeric
  14. 1 1/2 tsp coriander seeds

Instructions

  1. Grind all the masala ingredients to a fine paste.
  2. Place the masala in a curry dish.
  3. Add water to the curry consistency of your liking. I added 4 cups.
  4. Let the curry come to a rolling boil. Add salt to taste
  5. Simmer the curry and add fish pieces.
  6. Swirl till the pieces are well coated
  7. Let it simmer for 3-4 mins.take off heat
  8. Heat oil in a tadka pan and curry leaves.
  9. Let it sizzle. Pour this sizzling tadka over the curry.
  10. Serve hot with rice
