ABOUT Haleem RECIPE

Haleem is traditionally hydrabadi dish, but that is quite thick but this is surti food which is made during ramazan.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Chicken 1/2 kg
  2. Broken whaet 1 cup
  3. tuvar dal 1/2 cup
  4. Chana dal 1/2 cup
  5. Masoor dal 1/2 cup
  6. Onion 2 sliced
  7. Whole Spices:
  8. Bay leaf 1
  9. Cumin seed 1/2 tsp
  10. Cloves 2
  11. black cardamom 2
  12. Cinnamon stick 1/ 2 inch
  13. Black pepper corns
  14. Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
  15. Green chilly paste 1 tbsp
  16. Garam masala powder 1 tsp
  17. Red chilly powder 1/2 tsp
  18. Oil 1/2 cup
  19. Salt to taste
  20. Water as needed

Instructions

  1. In a pressur cooker heat 1/4 cup oil ad onion and saute till soft.
  2. Ad whole spices, chicken and ginger garlic paste. Cook for minutes.
  3. Ad green chilly paste cook for seconds. Cover the lid and cook til 2 to 3 whistles ith 1/2 cup of water.
  4. Soak broken wheats for 5 to 6 hours and cook in pressure cooker with salt and 1 cup of water and salt.
  5. When done let it cool and make corse paste.
  6. Soaked all dals seperately for 2 hours and boil seperately with salt and 1/2 cup water.
  7. Take all dal in grinder and make corse paste.
  8. In a pan heat remaining 1/4 cup oil ad dal mixture, cooked chicken, if reqired then salt too, and 4 to 6 cups of water.
  9. Cover the lid and cook for 10 to 15 minutes.
  10. When done ad garam masala powder and little red chuilly powder.
