It is a famous main dish in North India.

Dum Aloo

Ingredients to make Dum Aloo

  • 10/12 small potatoes
  • 1 big chopped onion
  • 1 big tomato chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger Garlic paste
  • 10/12 cashew nuts
  • 1 tsp Garam masala
  • salt as per taste
  • turmeric as per taste
  • chilli Powder as per taste

How to make Dum Aloo

  1. Boil the potatoes.
  2. Heat the kadai on the gas stove and put 1 tsp oil, add the cumin seeds.
  3. When cumin seeds starts to crackle, put the chopped onions and fry for sometime.
  4. Add the ginger and garlic paste. Fry for 1/2 minute and add the chopped tomato and cashew nuts.
  5. After a few minutes remove all the fried masala to a mixer and grind it to a fine paste.
  6. Fry the masala paste and add all the garam masala, salt, turmeric and chili powder and cook it for 5 minutes.
  7. Add the boiled potatoes and mix it properly with all the masalas.
  8. Add 1 cup water and cover the kadai with the lid and cook again for 6 to 7 minutes. Serve hot.
