Fish cooked in mustard gravy is a typical odiya food which is very tasty

Ingredients to make machha besara

  • fish 500 gm cut into pieces
  • mustard 2 tbsp
  • garlic 8-10 cloves
  • red chilli 3-4
  • oil for frying
  • tomato 3 big chopped
  • green chilli 3-4
  • salt
  • turmeric powder
  • curd 1/2 cup
  • for tempering
  • 1 tsp zeera
  • mustard oil 1 tbsp
  • green chilli 2
  • coriander leaves

How to make machha besara

  1. mix salt n turmeric to the fish and deep fry it
  2. in a pan take 1 tbsp of oil..add chopped tomatoes,salt and turmeric powder
  3. make a paste using mustard,garlic and red chilli
  4. in this paste mix a glass of water and pour this water to the tomatoes
  5. bring it to boil..add curd and mix well
  6. when boiling add fish and cook again for 10 mins in high flame..
  7. add chopped coriander leaves
  8. for tempering take a pan and add mustard oil..add zeera and green chilli and mix this tempering over the fish gravy
  9. serve with rice
