Sura Puttu is a fish dish which is easy to make and healthy one.It can be served with rasam or fish curry

Shark Fish / Sura Puttu

Ingredients to make Shark Fish / Sura Puttu

  • Shark fish - 1 kg (cleaned and cut )
  • shallots - 1 cup (finely chopped)
  • green chillies -4 (finely chopped)
  • Grated coconut -1 cup
  • turmeric powder -1 tsp +1/2 tsp
  • pepper powder -1tsp
  • fennel seed powder -1tsp
  • salt -to taste
  • oil - 1 tbsp
  • mustard seeds -3/4 tsp
  • curry leaves -1 sprig
  • Chopped coriander leaves -for garnishing

How to make Shark Fish / Sura Puttu

  1. In a vessel add 1 tsp turmeric powder and water.Bring to boil.Put the fish pieces .Cook it for 5 mins till the pieces turn opaque.
  2. Switch off the flame.allow it to warm.Then take out the pieces remove the skin ,bone or unwanted pieces. Mash it well and keep it aside.
  3. In a pan add oil,temper with mustard seeds,curry leaves.Add the shallots,green chillies until the onion turns transculent.
  4. Now add the mashed fish,salt,pepper powder,fennel seed powder.saute it well til moisture is lost.Finally add the grated coconut,stir it well
  5. Switch off the flame and garnish with coriander leaves .
